Description
What skills are required for a teacher to deliver a high quality education?
The course aims to enhance competences for teachers and educators about:
– the communication process,
– dynamic and cooperative training techniques
– the mediation of critical situations
– learning motivation
– self-esteem and leadership
– self-improvement and successful mistaking
– building alliance in groups
– new technologies
The methodology is based on plenary sessions, small working groups (open space learning, work on cases, tool market, on the spot internet searching, etc.), learn by doing, brainstorming and debates, criticising existing practices, presentations and simulations.
We base our traning and the evaluation of our course on the Nine dimensions of effective teaching (Marsh, H. W. 1984. Students’ evaluations of university teaching: Dimensionality, reliability, validity, potential baises, and utility. In Journal of Educational Psychology, 76(5), 707.)
How and Where
The language of the course will be English
The course will take place in Padua (North-Eastern Italy) with a minimum of 10 partecipants. It lasts five days (count one or two more days for arrival and departure)
Dates for 2015: 16 – 21 February, 8 – 13 June
Course Fee
The total amount for the course is 350 € per person.

1st Day
9.00 Welcome meeting
9.30 Presentation of trainers and participants: sharing of personal experience. Drawing up of training contract
11.00 – 12.30 Question time and distribution of learning material
14.00 – 17.30 Workshop on techniques and methods of class group building. How to meet and get to know each other and group feeling development
2nd Day
9.00 – 12.30 Effective communication in groups: climate and experiencial modalities
14.30 – 18.00 Workshops on identitfication of critical situations, motivation enhancement and conflict mediation
3rd Day
9.00 – 12.30 Current technologies as tools for education: smartphones, tablets and the internet in classrooms.
14.30 – 18.00 Workshop about the use and abuse of new technologies
4th Day
9.00 – 12.30 The personal history as a resource: autobiographical method in educational context
14.30 – 18.00 Workshop: the parenting function in teaching
5th Day
9.00 – 12.30 Self-esteem as motivational factor.
14.30 – 17.00 Workshop: understanding the leading role of teachers through group life stages
17.00 – 18.00 Evaluation and feedback.
